Located in Arcata, CA Greenwood Cemetery Has Been in Service Since 1851.
HISTORY
The cemetery is a nonprofit endowment care facility established to fulfill burial service needs. With its inception dating back to the mid-1800s, it stands as one of the oldest cemeteries in Humboldt County, California. The Association, formed in the 1950s, assumes responsibility for the cemetery's upkeep. Greenwood Cemetery exudes a quaint charm, boasting a rich historical legacy, serene environs, and attentive customer service.

Nestled amidst a backdrop of a community high school, historic residences, and majestic redwood trees, this cemetery offers a tranquil retreat. Adorned with vibrant blossoms and perennial blooms, the vicinity of the small chapel creates a picturesque setting. Nearby, the Estate Columbaria features premium black granite doors and spacious niches, complemented by panoramic vistas and refreshing coastal breezes.
A proud symbol of patriotism, the flag of the United States of America flutters gracefully near the entrance gate. Greenwood Cemetery serves as the final resting place for numerous local families, including esteemed members who have left an indelible mark on the community's history. Among the interred are veterans from the Civil War, foreign conflicts, law enforcement, and even figures from the Prohibition era. Indeed, the cemetery's grounds harbor a wealth of historical significance and narratives, contributing to the enduring legacy of Greenwood Cemetery.

BURIAL SERVICE ASSISTANCE
- Burial Services: We provide urn burial services, including niche service for the placement of cremated remains. Services include preparing the grave site, opening and closing the grave, and providing the necessary equipment and personnel for the burial or niche placement.
- Columbarium Services: Greenwood cemetery is a well-preserved cemetery. The Columbarium is located in a beautiful tranquil setting. It supports the over-all preservation of the environment for many decades to come. Making it an option, for a loved one’s cremated remains, that aligns with modern sustainability in conserving resources.
- Grave Markers: We assist families with the purchase of flat granite grave markers customized with the name, date of birth, date of death of the deceased and any picture for design they wish to add.
- Memorial Services: We communicate with the family to provide a memorial service that meets their wishes for the service.
- Cemetery Urn Plots: We offer cemetery urn plot spaces that are available throughout the property of the cemetery for urn burials for the placement of a cremated remains.
- Perpetual Care: Greenwood cemetery offers perpetual grounds keeping care, which involves the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery grounds and gravesites.
